Oh Linda, I am so glad you are a survivor! Despite the trauma and health issues, you remain open and receptive to the world. May you continue to find fulfillment in your writing, and joy in your family (both furry and human), your friends, and the beauty in the world.

Linda, I am so so so glad you are here. And I want to tell you (sorry if this sounds cheesy or corny) that I am proud of you for your vulnerable sharing here today. I was with you the entire time, remembering your story from SEARCHING FOR MERCY STREET, which was how I got to know your story.

Maybe this is weird, but I wanted to know YOU. I know your mom was a famous poet, but I wanted to know what it was like for YOU as her daughter--what your experience was like. Ditto for why I read Mark Vonnegut's memoir, JUST LIKE SOMEONE WITHOUT MENTAL ILLNESS ONLY MORE SO. It's because I wanted to see what life was like through the lens of a child growing up with a famous parent and empathize with their experience.

Anyway, I am looking forward to sharing your work here on Substack. Also: would you ever want to write a guest piece for my Substack? I feature a guest author once a month and would love to share any story you choose surrounding resilience.

If it means anything, I am here to support you in any way, especially as you write your memoir remembering Zan. Sending you hugs.
